Welcome to the Marzipan Café
Welcome, do come in
Sit under the fairy lights
Try our honey cakes in a tin
Use our spoons from the moon
For our lovely marzipan tarts
While the pianist plays a whimsical tune
Admire the sugar blown art
Elegant, yet peculiar
Savor glazed strawberry scones
Sip and stir hot cocoa with our moon spoons
As the flame in your candle dances
As fickle as the flavors you taste
Have berries drizzled in sugar
Pair it with out sentimental tea
Watch the steam curl like exotic fireworks
And dare to believe
The ceiling is the brilliant night sky
Blanketing us un a constellation of ever so
twinkling stars

The author's comments:
This poem was inspired by my favorite book, The Night Circus. In the book, "midnight dinners" are held with wonderful people, food, and entertainment. It's some of my favorite scenes to read about the savory food. I was also inspired by a restaurant I went to during Christmas. There were fairly lights stringed along the ceiling and at night it looked so magical. Then I thought, wouldn't it be cool to write about a restaurant I wish existed.
