Love is a dangerous thing

Your trembling fingers traced
the curve of my back
and I shivered.
Your smile…
Tore its way into me
and gave me the courage
to lean in and kiss you.
It's sad to think,
I haven't smelled your sheets
in over three weeks
months, years.
And it's my fault.
Because I pushed you away.
And let myself fall back down.
Into the darkness.
