You cannot escape the rhetoric; it will find you, no matter where you are!

Nosound.

There is a place between my vocal chords that does not rub
cannot touch the world
cannot put into feelings
words
truths
Nomatter the times I’ve thought them
at you
into the space that separates
creates a system of unspoken slights
slights
flights
destroying, unmaking, scattering
limbs like stars, elements into the sand
Human supernovas
I cannot create a sound for that pain
I cannot stop
You
Only You
Could Stop
The Death

/

Friction.
Warmth, heat, coursing coarsing chords, cordial
Heartspeak.

There is a place between us that I fill
like a suitcase
familiar, like I always have
with words against the Yous that cannot stop
I decry their thoughtless
their non-voice their Nosound
How can they not see?

A life
a life like light from a million-year-old star
explodes
maybe in a million years
the friction will sound
the light will catch in your eye
elements
human elements
like a sunset in the desert

This piece was written based on a prompt assigned me by my creative writing professor. Try it out! Write a poem in which you are addressing a certain issue: first as though you are speaking to the president, then, to a close friend.

I think you can all figure out what I'm saying.
