The only predictable thing about life is that it's going to be unpredictable.

Cars, automobiles, horseless carriages, who needs them?
Everything is turning into automatic electronic, ithis and ithat and a few years down
That very short road we’ll all be flying our hoverboards to school.
They have apps for everything, you can be read to in an Australian accent
And get driving instructions in a instant.
Yet my parents still say “You have to learn how to drive, driving equals freedom”
But I don’t want to learn how to drive!
I say driving equals fear, panic, frustration and even terror
Because I have to learn how to drive a stick shift!
Seatbelt, check, adjust the seat, check, adjust the mirrors, check
Foot on the brake, pressing the clutch, turn the key and start the car.
My palms are sweaty my heart is racing, what comes next?
The car is jerking, lurching and the window wipers won’t stop swishing.
The radio’s blaring and I think I hear some popping!
Check what gear, release the parking brake, release the clutch and the brake and inch forward.
Ever so slightly, NOT too much speed, look both ways then STOP
Put it in first, pull the brake, turn off the car
And exit as quickly as possible, “Dad I moved the car like you asked me to”
Can’t wait till they have an app for that.
