Favorite Quote:
"Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and, therefore, the foundation of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared."
—J.K. Rowling

I’ve heard it described
As a tornado –
So sudden and unexpected,
Trampling everything in its wake
Before disappearing just as quickly.

But it’s also like a hurricane,
Everything that the tornado is,
And more.
It tosses you about, water crushing your lungs,
Until the sun returns and makes the calming water sparkle.

Or even like an earthquake,
Crumbling, groaning, breaking
Where the land was once whole.
But even after it is over,
The fault lines and the promise of another remain.

Who will be my Red Cross?
Who should I let in?
This terrible, destructive world
That lives inside me
Is a disaster.
