Dear younger me,
Remember when grandpa sat you on that couch,
When he told you he had cancer,
When he said he wouldn't make it till Christmas and you couldn't tell anyone.

I know how it made you feel:
Like the world was crashing down on you,
the light inside you flickered out and only left dispair,
All the joy you ever felt coming to an end.

The look her gave you as he told you not to cry,
And just to make him happy you told him that you wouldn't,
All the pain you felt as you held the secret in,
As you slowly understood what death was and that the world isn't fair.
From,
Your older self.
