Starring in the mirror
at my ordinary face
trying to find the errors
so that I can try to erase

The acne the one
always mocked me for
no amount of concealer
can cover up the gore

The bushy eyebrows that
the other thought were squirrel tails
now plucked too thin
to look like that of a quail’s

The thighs they both said
were much too fat
So I ate less and worked more
yet I was always sneered at

To what end will you taunt?
How long will you tease?
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect
Just leave me alone, please

I know we used to be friends
I don’t know what I did to you
Every insult is a stab
Stop making me think this is all true

I can’t cover up my flaws
I can’t cover up our past
I wish we could be friends again
I wish I wouldn't feel like an outcast
