To write a poem is to
pour collected dust on yellow paper
with smudged lead fallen from a
pencil tip

Instead of eyes drooping from socket
to toes

They're pinned to a wrinkled pile
of the aged.
there's sharp metal digging a hole in a white sphere

Pinned on a pile of other lonely eyes, soon
they will expand
till vessels unfold and stretch the length
of the yellowed paper

charcoal marks stirring along with
bleeding ink

When it's done, my
bony wrists collapse-
