To write a poem
To write a poem is to
pour collected dust on yellow paper
with smudged lead fallen from a
pencil tip
Instead of eyes drooping from socket
to toes
They're pinned to a wrinkled pile
of the aged.
there's sharp metal digging a hole in a white sphere
Pinned on a pile of other lonely eyes, soon
they will expand
till vessels unfold and stretch the length
of the yellowed paper
charcoal marks stirring along with
bleeding ink
When it's done, my
bony wrists collapse-
