Stars
she stared with hollow eyes at the twinkly stars,
the absence of light had always sat comfortably in her heart,
she thought of what she would miss,
the smell of freshly cut grass,
the soft melody of her favourite song
echoing through the room
the smell of the rain, long hugs
her best friends laugh
until a stubborn snake
pierced an agonising hole through her stomach,
awaking her demons
she wondered down a dark alley
of intrusive thoughts and empty darkness
reached for the necklace of rope
and thought one final time
of the things she would miss the most
realising for the last time
that the things she’d miss the most
were the things she never knew
for her hollow eyes had seen it all
yet light never made it through
she took one last look across the sky
before jumping towards the twinkly stars.
