"A million years of evolution.. and what are we? Animals." - Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar

Oh, crater face, face of the moon,
Your crevices scarcely understood
But admired by far.
And from afar I try to find
The face in the moon -
But I'm partially blind.

I'm blinded by the ever-expanding
Universe that lays inside your eyes
After staring into them for hours
I can't say I'm surprised
Within the black holes of your pupils
I'm lost -
I'm found.

Finding meaning in the constellations,
Scattered across your face
Oh, Constellation,
The inter-connecting scars
Your stars are illuminated -
Illuminate me.

Luminous in a dark existence
Your eyes light up any room
With odd persistence
I lend my life to wandering thoughts
Of you,
Ever-expanding thoughts too often
Left in the dark.

In the dark I pull at the strings
Your magnetic pull surrounding me
Yet the more I pull, the closer it brings
My heart to the center of your galaxy
This tested theory holding true
No matter where I go -
I’ll always gravitate toward you.
