Today is one of those days
When we ran between the raindrops
There are always those days
Those days when you’re lying there
Soaked, broken and shivering
And there are the days
The days when you run between the raindrops
There are those days when you’re shattered
And those days when you’re invincible
Today I ran between the raindrops
Nothing tastes sweeter than cheating fate
Than dashing between the raindrops
Invincibility is a legend, a myth
But there are days when heaven smiles
And lets you run between the raindrops.

I think there are days in everyone’s life when they feel invincible, when time sort of slows and everything feels simply perfect for a moment or an hour or a day. Those are days when we run between the raindrops. When I was younger and it was raining and I had to run outside for some reason my grandmother would always tell me to “run between the raindrops.” I would giggle and dash out as quickly as I could. The words were just nonsense to me then and they’re probably nothing more than a funny saying to her, but I’ve realized that there is meaning in “running between the raindrops.” In all of our lives it’s raining, raining drops of pain, sorrow, and injustice. It’s constantly raining and sometimes we’re overcome by it, soaked through to the skin with no hope of being warm and dry anytime soon. However, sometimes heaven smiles and lets us run between the rain drops for just a bit.
