I am white like my complection,
playful and exuberant
I’ll dance for you, put on a show for you
It’s the 20th century sin
Black and white, I am seen
Black as my winged eyeliner
White as my floating dress
Women hold the yin and the yang
Women, alone, are brave
Women’s spirits are faded like diamonds that sit
waiting for a hero
to paint them white again
