She Was So Beautiful In Death It Was A Wonder Why She Was Ever Alive

Do you remember when sunsets and sunrises
Weren't just the beginnings and ends of our days?
When the cold was just a suggestion
And I could always see my breath?
Back in the good old days
When music was just music
I haven't listened to a song that doesn't remind me of you
Not since the summer heat meant windows rolled down
And wind blown was my only hair-style
Campfires and star-gazing
Took up the time that I wasn't using
Not thinking about the future
Because it never looked bright for us
Sometimes at night
When I leave the lights on to try and fall asleep
I crave the dim future
That I should've thought of
So much more than I did
It may not be too late now
Yet I still feel like I can't hold on
To something that's already left me
Like a weak heart-beat
We continue on through the long nights and short days
Silence is deafening but only sometimes
I seek it out now that words are much too big
For my ears to hear
