Although I’ am not of the land
I’ am of the spirit
I’ am a child of mother Africa and as I watched Sudan fall I felt her tears
The grief that bestowed me rising from the womb of my belly making the most despairing sound
I knew it was nothing compared to the tears of the Sudanese
Or their death made cries
And as they watched family members die they went on even in their grief
As they lay their children, the heart of their womb in the desert because their futures no longer existed they went on
Their strength became the driving force for people like me who have not known such a struggle
This an ode to the Sudanese
Because the world does not care because these are black people
Thus their lives have lost significance but not to me
Every live lost is a wound to the chest that will not be lost in vain.
Amun-Ra set free the grief and pain set it free….
Set free this ode to the Sudanese.
