It’s a winter wonderland out there,
snow piling up in fluffy white drifts.
Inside all is warm,
fires crackle and blaze in hearths,
Cocoa steams and absorbs its marshmallows,
Thick blankets warm cold toes and fingers.

Now there is a springtime softness coating the world,
Pastel flowers pop out of green grass.
The world is awakening,
As are the bunnies and the birds.
Sweet sunlight warms the air,
The snow has melted into babbling brooks,
All is calm and quiet.

Summer is stepping up to the plate,
Melting popsicles and plastics.
Beaches are swarming with sunburned crowds,
Pools are populated by sweltering hordes.
children play ball on the grass,
While parents socialize on checkered blankets.

Fall is coloring the forests,
It is a sea of reds and browns.
The weather is becoming cooler,
And children all go back to school.
Apple orchards are booming,
Kids jump into crispy piles of leaves,
Summer sheds the last of her luscious green tresses.

And, repeat.

Living abroad in Kenya has reminded me of the extremes the weather in my home goes to to impress those inhabiting it.
