In the winter you made me paper birds

They migrated from your hands to mine

And you told me something

About how you truly loved someone when you gave them a thousand cranes

You left in March

With the start of the thaw

And I hunted the birds in frustration

Filling their tiny wings with buckshot

So they had no choice but to fall

You are so brilliant - I don't even have the words to describe these poems anymore. I just know that they mean so much to me.
