For S.
If you woke up crying I would squeeze you tighter, as if my arms could expel the demons from your head and wrap a pretty red ribbon around your heart because no matter how many times Satan knocks at your door I will never let you fall apart, I love you.
Our demons are friends, swapping tips over a cold beer and a competitive poker game. My demons visit at night, too.
If you woke up yawning, with fluttering eyes I would rub your back and sing you lullabies until you dozed off, re-boarding your dream boat, sailing off to a lovely destination with charming mermaids and boxing baby kangaroos.
When I peered down at you, I saw everything I want, wrapped beautifully into a 6'1 man murmuring unconsciously on my chest. Your boat hit the docks and I welcomed you back to my world with kisses on the places where my overalls imprinted your cheek, I love you.
