The past is my rock
Set in stone.
Unchanging and mine.
Mine to move forward from.
To find my place in this constant change
Of the Earth we all have heard in science.
To think that a rock was once whole.
Ours.
Then it moved around the globe.
It cracked.
It shattered.
It was sometimes lost in the depths of…
However, I am here.
Here in spite of the broken rocks
Which created my beginning
That etched my story
Into the caves of time.
Mine.
And to leave this earth with more
Shattered and broken rocks.

It is actually the new ending to my other poem Is It Genetic? but it also works on its own.
