People expect it to be a walk in the park

But life is far from that

People expect us to be one race

One religion, one color

One sexual orientation

But life isn’t about that

It’s about embracing the culture we have

It’s what makes us… well, us

Look at the people affected by the life that people try to enforce

Suicide, mental instability,
addiction, alcoholism

All because people expect everyone to have the same kind of life

They fear change

Like Civil Rights

Like same-sex marriage

Like women’s suffrage

All because they want us to be the same

All because change will make their lives “harder”

When they don’t realize what their
views do to others

Like the girl who takes the razor to end the bullying about her homosexuality

Like the boy who can’t leave his house so he can avoid the racial slurs

It’s sickening to see what “life” has become

Making innocent people miserable

All just because people can’t embrace others

Stubbornness gets the best of them

So why does it have to be this way?

Why can’t life be that walk in the park?

No hurting, no ignorance

A life full of many races,

Many religions, many colors,

Many sexual orientations

So everyone can be happy

After all, that’s what we should call

Life.
