We peeled apart the foam-finger flesh,
Picked apart the fragile treasure inside,
Sucked the sunshine out of the pale

And watched as rubies dripped down each other's lips,
The hang nails on my fingers stung,
A bitterness remained on my lips long
after the fruit had gone
