Starving

She died like roses left in the shade.
A hopeless romantic,
You could see it in her cheeks,
Blood blossoming innocence
And laughter left out in the sun
Too long, sickly sweet.
It started with that,
Devouring her
From the inside out
At first a slow rusting, rotting
Creep then all at once,
A sudden bacteria bloom
Leaving her starving
For a reason why.
Dead by dinnertime
But she still blesses the food
And her own murder is
Swept under the dining table
An unspoken crime.
