It isn't real
I’ll hold my breath around you
Because I’ve been told that perfect can’t be real
But that isn’t true
I once saw it everyday.
I studied it and tried to find a flaw
But there was nothing to be found
At least not in the person that I saw.
But maybe that’s because I saw something different
I didn’t see your mistakes
I saw your merit
I saw perfection in it’s truest form
But maybe it’s only because of how you looked at me.
And that’s what scares me the most
Maybe you looked at me for what you thought I’d be
And when I didn’t match up you stopped looking.
But I keep staring
Because I remember the look in your eyes
And how you were always so caring.
Even when I was hard to handle
But maybe I got to be too much
So I’ll sit here and wonder
I guess we lost our touch
Maybe this is what they meant when they said it wasn’t real.
