The Door
A door can open to whom it may choose,
as the handle twists and turns.
The gadgets inside remove the hold
and let the door swing true.
The doorbell rings to let him in,
the stranger beyond the wood.
The window, like a crystal ball,
shows a glimpse of the world beyond;
the faithful companion beside the door
that shows what’s waiting on the steps.
The door is the true barrier
to what comes and goes in day to day life.
A simple piece of genius
that stands upon the threshold.
Though it be old in time or worn from use
it never falters or sways,
but stays true to it’s one given purpose.
As allegiant as the sun and the moon.
At the end of the path,
at the top of the steps,
is the gateway to changing worlds,
The door.
