"Food is one of my favorite parts of the day" -Jennifer Lawrence

My breath is heavy.
My heart is racing.
My eyes are closed and my head is pounding.

Stuck between the thin line of life and death.
Is it all worth it?
Should I cross over?
If I feel like I’ve crossed over everyday,
Is it worth it to keep fighting?
If the light is getting brighter rapidly every day of my thin life,
Why not just make the leap.

I stare up at the ceiling, lying on my bed.
Life doesn’t seem real anymore.
I am trudging through life with my eyes closed.
One day at a time, one hour, one minute, one second.

I could end it.
I could embrace the light and end the pain,
The suffering that makes living a daily hell.
Darkness swallows me; so all the light is gone.
It beckons, calling my name.
Come, come to me.
It will be better.
You will be better.

Death is inevitable.
It will happen to us all, sooner or later.
The question is: sooner or later?

This is a poem based off of a Ode to Nightingale by John Keates which we read in school. I really liked it and decided to write one with a similar idea.
