"Don't Give In To The Pressure, Make The Pressure Give In To You."

Curls of onyx hair blew about
in the soft summer breeze,
a dusty grey cardigan
wrapped tightly around my shoulders,
just to keep me cozy at night.
I gazed out upon the starry night sky,
flecks of white, glimmering,
upon a pitch black canvas.

Nights like these,
they make me think of the nights
that we once shared.
Especially the very first,
lying down in the field,
staring up at the sky,
hand in hand,
and for the first time ever,
I was truly in love.

Nights like these,
I listen to what once our song,
I keep it on repeat,
I look through the old photos of us,
as tears build in the corners of my eyes,
I don’t dare to let myself cry,
not over you, not over memories,
not over something that left me broken,
it’s not worth it anymore.

Nights like these,
I realize that everything,
has just become meaningless,
and all the moments we shared,
are just distant memories.
Our song isn’t our song,
Because there isn’t an “us” anymore,
there’s you, and there’s me,
separated for good.

As the sun starts to rise,
I decide to sneak back inside,
to the comfort of my own bed,
to reminisce the good times,
that you and I once had,
and I’ll wonder to myself,
how does something good,
turn out so bad?
