"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." —Edith Wharton

Had it been that I persevered
raised my head a little taller
and achieved
had it been that I attempted
to quell the storm
prior to its rising
had it been so
that I gave it a go
then maybe this empty
would be filled something
that sliver of hope
which I could have crafted
but I let the wind catch it's sail
and it flew away like
a child's lost balloon
so now it is done
and still I'm mute of the reason
as armies of ants
scurry to building
and broken limbs of trees
adorn their route
still I lift naught my arm
to show they way home
through this blizzard of cold
