Beyond Lost
Longing to meet your gaze
within these enormous crowds.
I feel like you've disappeared,
but I'm the one that's gone.
I can sing the words of the saddest songs,
but it won't bring you any closer to me.
I can stare out at the same old,
desolate road,
but you'll never pass me by.
Not here, at least,
in the apparent land of the lost.
Your faint whisper
lurks in the hollows of my ears at night,
comforting my scattered mind.
The shadow of your soft touch
wraps itself around me,
I want to believe it's real,
because sometimes it feels
like we were never separated.
I'm always finding myself lost,
like I just don't belong,
it's just not the same without you.
