Forget

Times have changed
I am full of mistakes
I need to erase
Erase and replace
With remorse and disgrace
With passion and sorrow
Sadness and space
People need to forget who I was
They need to forget I exist. I breathe. I Live.
They need to turn and ask
Has our old friend
moved away?
They need to surely hiss and say
It seems she has gone out of the way
They will forget my voice. My smile.
My fears and my dreams
They will forget what I look like. Sound like. Feel like.

They might see me somewhere and squint

I know that girl...

Their minds will tease them constantly

But they cannot recall

It seems so very long ago

My life has come and gone

So I must now dissolve and fade

Like broken bottles

Salty waves

Empty pages

Empty minds

Full of blankness

Nothing binds

I have hurt too much

And hurt those masses as such

You must forgive and you must forget

Now I am blown away by my regret

And don't shake heads and force your smiles

Lies and deceit

Run by miles

So now I will forget

And they will forget

And all will forget but a few

That I have been there

Don't remember me in your books

Don't keep me in your prayers

Don't listen for those calls

For listeners don't hear

And please excuse me

While I disappear
