Hate

I hate the way you say my name
like I’m the only one you want,
the way you strut around with ease
the amount you tease and taunt.

I hate the way you talk to me
as if you want to know my mind,
then put down all of my ideas,
compare my brain to apple rind.

You show up late for everything,
as if to say that I don’t matter,
but every time we lock our eyes
my heart speeds up its pitter-patter.

The way I feel when we are close
as if all the forces are aligned,
makes me want to scream my heart out,
and claim you all for mine.

All your messy little habits
you know I hate the way they charm,
it makes me sad to know I love you,
when I know I’ll come to harm.

Love

I love the way we mesh this well,
that you accept me for myself,
and all the little things you do
you’re my daily Christmas elf.

That day you brought me ice cream
my favorite with chocolate chips,
when I had given up on you
on those wonderful shaped lips.

They say the things I need to hear
but your actions aren’t the same,
you leave me stranded one more night
forget to call again.

Those three words are said enough,
but are they ever meant?
You said you’d love me anyway,
no matter where you went.

I want to tell you how I feel
but when we’re walking arm in arm,
it fills me with that rush again,
you won’t let me come to harm.
