"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." --Ernest Hemingway

I am a young writer juggling
schoolwork, procrastination and distraction.
Now I have a NaNo up there too,
sitting there on top of everything,
staring at me, so pretty and ugly.

It is behind in its word count.
It is so devilish, telling me that I can pull an
all nighter
so that I can write 5k to catch up.
It hits me,
time and time again
with Writer's Block,
but then I have so many plans for it,
I would be able to sit for hours
rewriting the same sentence
multiple times.

I love you, my NaNo,
and I hate you with all my heart.
Miss NaNo whispers to
Inner Editor,
catching and pulling
procrastination and distraction,
tugging at their seams,
eating at it all.

NaNo, you kill me. You want me so.
And because I love you dearly, I let you.
Time and time again.
Would finishing you, be letting you win?
Or will it only kiss you?
Miss NaNo, I ask you.
And I ask you, too,
fellow Wrimos,
if your Miss NaNo does the same?
Does it eat you alive,
and suck your soul?

But is it sweet enough for you to let it?

NaNoWriMo sounds so simple. Just a number of words a day, every day, for a month. But it's much harder and stressful than you think.
