"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."
George Bernard Shaw

A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes:
it's breaking over me.
I'm slipping underneath.
I would give it all if only for a moment,
in the shadow of your heart.

You left me in the dark.
So you better run:
run fast for your mother, run fast for your father.
There's no doubt, you're in deep,
though the pressure's hard to take.

'Cause you're a hard soul to save
and the heart is hard to translate.
Looking up from underneath:
it's the only way I can escape.
And I never wanted anything from you.

No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight.
Turn off all of the lights,
let the morning come.
Reflections still look the same to me:
I can't seem to understand it.

And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat:
It cries out in the darkest night and breaks in the morning light.
I've turned it over in my mind,
and I don't wanna see what I've seen.
A one-track mind, you can't be saved:
you see the signs, but you can't read.
You left me in the dark
but I'm not giving up.

The author's comments:
This poem is technically a Cento poem, which is a poem made up of other poetry. I used song lyrics from a few of Florence + The Machine's songs. I took her own lyrics and made my own poem, which, consequently, is about heartbreak.
