Into the Fire

Into fire we go
Tearing our souls to pieces
Never to be the same
Live or die who can tell
The choice was ours from the start
The path chosen was hard
Paved by the blood of fallen brothers
Still we carried on to meet our foes

Mothers cry at the graves
Fathers holding them tight
A wife wishing for one more day
They never got to say good-bye
Meeting their brothers on the way home

Giving it their all
Never looking back
Pushing and driving each other forward
Into the unknown
Into the fire

as a soldier in the army I wrote this poem about my brothers who have gone into battle and have not come back. this goes out to their families.
