Favorite Quote:
“I wondered which was harder, in the end. The act of telling, or who you told it to. Or maybe if, when you finally got it out, the story was really all that mattered.”
― Sarah Dessen, Just Listen

caught up in delirium,
but yearns for reverie
the past asphyxiates her,
tied down with malady
if only a prince would come
to save and set her free
but princess, there's no hero
it's only you and me
but stories never taught us well
no one to hear our plea
the past has never gone this way
we're done for, i decree
we don't need no prince for saving
but fairy tales, they disagree
so stuck and saddened we wait,
morose and trapped are we
will a knight in armor shining come,
oh we must wait and see
or will we go rescue ourselves
and alter history?

The author's comments:
I wrote this because commonly in fairy tales and in history, there's a prince or a hero or a knight in shining armor who saves the damsel in distress...so this poem is sort of when the damsel is stuck and there's no prince to save her.
