"If there's a book you want to read, that hasn't been written yet, then you must write it" Tomi Morrison.

They say were just kids as if that’s an excuse
That being a kid means you don’t understand
Why you friend comes to school every day with a bruise
That you can’t even provide a helping hand

They say we don’t notice when someone’s away
How our minds have become corrupt with the use technology
That’s not true, when someone’s away we count the days
Because we know how easy it is to crack, all we get is an apology

The pressure of perfection is too hard to reach
The media, our family, our friends, our schools
No wonders kids are starting to swallow bleach
You’re treating us as if we know nothing making you the fools

We see the damage that can be created
We know we don’t always make the best choices
How much we can become hated
In an attempt to find our voices

So go on and say we are just kids

How we don’t understand the definition of pain
But you don’t see the cuts we hide on our ribs
Can’t you see we kids have a brain

This poem is so expressive! It has so many messages in one. The frustration and the hurt is so clear in it, which makes it awesome! Great poem!
