Second Chance

In a world that’s been turning for billions of years
What difference can be made by one short human life, filled with hopes and with fears
Just stop and think
All it takes is one person that has had enough to
Pull the trigger of a gun
Anyone-mother, sister, father, son can choose not to
Leave revenge to fate
It is better to
Act now, no longer can we wait
The power of words
Has no chance against
The finality of death
For the voice of a person is lost once they draw their final breath
We can take a stand in memory of those who are gone
If we all come together, be brave and be strong
It may last for a time, but not for long
Hatred will prevail
Every virtuous thing we have done or said our life
Is not enough to stop
The swift stab of a knife
Though it may not seem like it at first glance
We still have a ray of hope, a second chance
Take a different perspective and you will see
It’s a different place our world could be

This poem is a reverse poem. It is meant to be read normally the first time and then again starting with the last line and ending with the first.
