Autumn is when the clocks change –
darkness will cover the evening sky faster
Sooner comes the mackerel sky
with the faint smell of apple pie

Autumn is windy walks through
dead leaves
Scarves and long sweaters will cover
our skin
We will watch our football team ready
to win

Autumn is when we will grab our favorite blankets and huddle around
The birds will fly south to escape the cold
Fireplaces will be lit within our household

Autumn is when the atmosphere will
be misty
Fog will make it hard to find your way home
As you carry your cocoa in a cup made
of styrofoam

Autumn is when beauty seems to go on
forever
Everything feels just right
And happiness is in plain sight

Autumn is my favorite time of year so I wanted to write a poem to express this fact.
