Scary Yet Welcoming World
Tall people moving about everywhere
I’m so small that a bike is like the whole universe to me
I walk and keep walking till there is no place left
I drag myself to find a safe enough place to sleep
Searching and wandering
Hiding under cars
Digging in dumpsters
Sneaking into buildings
I’m lost and lonely
I’m scared
No one here to comfort on me
My tummy rumbles and aches
I haven’t ate anything in a long while
It’s dark and gloomy
Rainy and cold
Then the wind picks up with a cool warm breeze
The sun shines through the clouds
It warms my fragile cold body
I notice a woman walking towards me making weird sounds
I see that she has something in her hands
I walk cautiously towards her to get a better view
I don’t quite understand what she is saying but I see her bend down
She reaches her hand out to me
I smell a scent that makes saliva build in my mouth
She lays it on the ground for me along with some water
Eating felt like fireworks in my stomach
I savored every last bite till it was gone
I felt a hand brush my back
I felt comfort for the first time in a long time
I then knew I was safe in her presence
A lady with food and a caring heart
