The Urban Jungle
Living in the urban jungle -
Drab, grey skyscrapers soaring high
Up to the sky like towering rainforest trees,
and furious fumes in a brooding brown sky.
We ignorant toiling ants,
Blinded to a nature shrouded pollution,
Misted in ignorance to all beauty,
and ignorant of finding a solution.
I wish, we
could see the real jungle -
verdurous, luscious, green trees;
nature breathing in and out with evergreen lungs.
When will the day come
When we shall see the stars again,
When the rain shall not fall in acid tears
And greenery will roll a carpet over our pain?

Where I live, there are no stars, only acid rain and almost no greenery. I wrote this to raise awareness at school, so students can realise we need to conserve our home, planet Earth right now.
