little white crosses
from Fate's coin tosses
dot highways like wildflowers.
most are very plain
but one can see the pain
that each lonesome cross must bear.
ignoring them gets hard
because each one's a shard
of a broken heart.

To embellish, I meant it's hard to believe anyone could consider removing the markers the loved ones' families have put up.

Honest and gently challenging. Beautiful last lines. For a while there was some controversy on whether it would be legal or not to have white crosses dotting the roadways. It's hard to believe some people could even consider it.
