dream reoccurring
Of marrying too
Young, marrying a job
I detest, chewing
Tobacco and fingernails,
Purging out numbers I’ll
Never understand, imaginary
Fulfillment, cupped in
The grasp of a quicksand suburbia
Waiting for days to end,
Waiting for lives to end.

The most frightening part of adolescence is, not the fear of the unknown, but the fear that monotony will dominate the unknown and shrivel it to a mere daydream.
