To the one that got away,

I lost my heart.
I think you sucked it out of me
When you gave me that hickey
Before we split apart.

I’m writing this letter
To ask for it back.
My life’s been thrown off track
And my heart would make it better

I wasn’t sure if I could speak to you.
You haven’t spoken to me.
But I still remember that hickey
Even after all we’ve been through

You’ve probably found somebody new.
I bet you took her heart as well.
Or maybe not it’s hard to tell.
Either way, I wish the best for you.

I guess that’s all I have to say
In case you’re wondering I’ve been well
I mean I still miss you like hell
But I guess I’ve been okay

So I’ll wrap this up
I’d like my heart please
It would put me at ease
It was nice catching up

Sincerely, the one you got away from

I really like the rhyme pattern in this because I usually avoid rhymes in my poems but this worked out(:
