Subtleties flattened like the single penny
Not so shaken by the approach of our beady diesel eyes
We are the bass drum,
We are the earthmovers.

The boxcars are open, the shifting
Air sweeps through, sifting through crowds
That gather beside the rails. Only the heaviest
Souls catch the winds – no weight can slow these
Weathered wheels.
Even desperation bears no more load
Than a penny.
We are a freight train.

At speeds unknown to the simple
We fly through suburbs and over oceans,
The grand sunsets strip those new burdens
As we accelerate, into the endless night
We are the infinity.
