People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Soft double-arches
That part
To bite an apple
To spill secrets
To kiss another pair

Lips that fit together
Like seamless promises
Of desires yet to be fulfilled

Lips that shaped the sounds
Their tongues uttered
Molded the words they said

Lips that hid happiness in their smiles
Lies in their corners tightened
Frustration in their tilts

Lips imprisoned behind steel bars
That shaped the sounds uttered
By the tongue hiding behind them
Lips stitched together
Dripping blood they screamed in silence
Lips that ripped at hearts
Trapped by greed and rejected by remorse

They
Wreaked havoc upon those lips
Threw them into pits
Dark beneath the earth
They sliced off those lips
And burnt them trying
To silence them
For even bound they could not
But you cannot stop lips
You can
Imprison
Stitch
Bury
Slice
Burn
Lips
But you cannot
Imprison
Stitch
Bury
Slice
Burn
Words
Passed on by hearts
That do not see
Who receives
But feel their life
To pour the truth
Into them
And gather them
So they can
Rip
At hearts
Once more

This time, I tried not to write using big words and vague metaphors. As a result, I feel this is one of my most honest poems.

i didn't say it was personal, only honest.

I think what you did can be risky. Sometimes being personal and honest can backfire. I don't think it backfired in this poem. To say that this poem is "personal" I'm not sure I could agree with that. Regardless, it is a good poem. I really like the style and look of it. It works well with the wording and emotion. You detail the lips with keen descriptions. Nicely done.
