Morose Abstraction

air bleached by smoke,
milky clouds spread over the world,
poisonous whispers of wind drifting through abandoned towns.
the sky stares blankly down at us,
a blind eye stained with cataracts.
fog rolls in,
people wrapped in shrouds of mist.
Muffled helpless by cobwebs,
They watch silently
as a straggly V of crows flaps through blackened wind.
