The Rain

The skies were gray
the clouds were full
the wind caressed the trees
as if a wand magically commanded it to be.

I watched the drops fall one by one,
so softly and alone
upon the dry and thirsty earth
which gladly drank it home
Drops once divided were joined to make a mighty force
and as they fell,
new life began,
as nature took its course.

Seeds began to sprout again,
the barren land was blessed
The soil reached out to feel the warmth while it was at its best.

The rain now stopped
but you can see the magic that remains
The breath of life that fills the earth,
every time it rains.

I thought I hated Poetry, but as an Eighth Grade Student, It was forced upon me. Now I love it, I participated in the poetry slam. I got to the second round. I really couldn't have done it with my Teachers support.
