Just Ten Years Old
Just ten years old
But scared of the world
And scared of outside
And scared to live life
Because so often when
He steps outdoors
He’s broken and
He’s beat up and
He’s sent right back inside until
He never wants to see the sun
And never wants to smell the earth
Because they signal pain
And he’s left-out again
And he’s lost and he’s stuck
And he’s weak, but so tough
Because he’s just ten years old
Facing a cruel harsh world
That just forces him out and
Steals his playtime
And he doesn't understand!
But he does, ‘cause he’s ten.
And it’s nothing new and it can’t be changed
But he’s trying so hard
to make friends all the same
Because he’s ten years old
And he wants to live life
So go welcome him
Or back off now
Because he’s just ten
And it’s not his fault he’s deaf.
