Wishes Do Come True
A sound,
A quiet sound.
A squeak,
The Swings
One little girl,
Abandoned, Alone.
No one around.
No one to love her.
She just sits there,
Too scared to talk.
She only looks around,
She hopes, she dreams.
Her dreams,
They don't ask much.
Just a house,
To call her home.
She wants more,
Not a lot.
A man to call father,
A woman to call mom.
She sees the stars
From the same place
Every night,
That swing.
She's been there,
She's always there,
For about a week
Waiting, just waiting
Waiting for someone,
Anyone, to ask.
To ask her her name, her age.
Someone to take her home.
When the stars go
And daylight comes
She wonders, she thinks,
Will she ever be noticed?
People pass by,
None interested
In the little brunette
Alone on the swing.
All but one.
A man
With a daughter of his own,
The same age too
He sees the girl,
Notices her tears,
Sees her pain,
Wants to help.
He asks her name,
"Elizabeth," she says.
He calls his girl over,
Morgan.
They get along,
Learn about each other,
Exchange some secrets,
And share some laughs.
Elizabeth, a part.
A big part,
A huge part,
A great part of his family.
Another daughter
To love and care for.
He made a difference today
In an eight year olds life.
She has now,
A house to call home.
A man to call dad.
A girl to call sister.
A family to love
A family to care for.
A life to live.
A future to look forward to.
Wishes do come true.
If you wish with all your might
For good, selfless reasons...
Wishes DO come true.
