Like little peels of an orange
I sit
happy I could help
preserve the family
of slices
and seeds
for the mouths
and the earth
surrounded now
by trash in the bin

I try to remember the reason why my family came to America. It was to see me become, in some way, successful. So i try to remember my heritage and family and how much they have given up so that i can be here. But I look at the things some people do and i really wonder if it was all worth it. I am happy I could preserve my family name but I am not sure if I am happy where I am.
