Rebound MAG
People aren't
yo-yos,
backboards,
or bouncy balls,
so when you say
“Rebound”
I'm a little confused.
Is she
a boomerang
that comes back
wherever you
throw her,
a kite at
the end of
your string?
I don't get
how you could
replace someone
with another
someone,
like people are
notebooks,
socks,
or chapstick.
Is she college-ruled?
Is she fuzzy with
polka-dot grippers?
Is she peppermint
hydration?
I think
she has to be close,
I think
you think
she isn't
but she'll do,
and I think
you think
you'll let her think
she is the only one
which is wrong.
Or maybe
I'm wrong,
about you
and her
and what
I think I am,
because of
what you told me
before you
released the yo-yo,
threw the free throw,
chucked that
stupid bouncy ball.
