Depression is nothing that happiness can be, so own up to fear and live life not in misery!

I'm not pretty no revlon model with the magazine face
no skinny body that fits size zero waist jeans
I'm not perfect not beautiful says vogue magazine
I have curves blemishes imperfections to flawed for fate
in a society were plastic perfection is key
and barbie is the role model for youth today
when teens stop eating or count their calorie intake
push their bodies to starvation or surgical procedures
this is what happens when we photoshop women on covers of magazines
we forget real beauty and strive for something fake
a perfection unreachable even though few might succeed
but at what cost do we pay to seek plastic perfection
covered in makeup hidden dreams like maybelline
to forget real beauty and the person inside
not just someones pretty face.

This poem is based on how I feel about magazines and how they send the wrong message to teens about how they should look.
